Current Status of the Faculty of Computer Science

The Faculty of Computer Science was established in 2022 upon the proposal of Wardak University and with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education. Following its establishment, the Faculty officially commenced its academic activities within the University. As a newly founded academic unit, it encountered numerous challenges during its early years. On one hand, it was a newly established faculty, and on the other, it had a limited number of academic staff, most of whom were at the beginning of their teaching and academic careers. Limited facilities and the lack of experience in managing academic and administrative affairs were among the major challenges faced by the Faculty's leadership.

Despite these difficulties, the strong determination and commitment of its young academic staff, together with their dedication to educating Afghanistan's younger generation in the fields of telecommunications and information technology, transformed these challenges into opportunities for growth and development. With the continuous support and special attention of the University leadership, the Faculty strengthened its academic and administrative foundations, organized its educational and administrative activities, and laid a solid foundation for sustainable progress. Today, the Faculty of Computer Science has secured a distinguished position among the active and rapidly developing faculties of Wardak University and continues its academic mission with confidence and full preparedness.

At present, the Faculty of Computer Science consists of two active departments: the Information Systems Department and the Network Engineering Department. Both departments are led by qualified heads and carry out their academic and administrative responsibilities in a well-organized manner. Through the National University Entrance Examination (Kankor), 124 students were admitted in 2022, 142 students in 2023, 89 students in 2024, and 94 students in 2025 from different provinces across the country. Currently, the Faculty has a total enrollment of 449 students.

The Faculty is presently staffed by nine academic members who are responsible for teaching, research, and the management of other academic affairs. Over time, most of the Faculty's initial challenges have been successfully addressed. The number of academic staff has increased, academic capacity has been strengthened, and the establishment of new departments has further accelerated the Faculty's growth and development.
